Social Media use for travel information

Image
Sunrise over Mexico City Our last blog provided guidance on finding reputable sources of information online, through websites.  The world of Social Media is a completely different scenario.  It can provide amazing assistance, although everything is subjective.  You have to carefully consider the information to be able to extract good, useful information for your needs. Groups on Facebook is my preferred method of finding out useful information.  There are many groups devoted to travel in general, and many devoted to an individual country, or region, or city. I have joined many groups and regularly see information of interest, in general, and specific to a country / area.  I save / bookmark very useful info.  When I plan my travels, it is usually a few months in advance.  I will join FB groups on that country / area.  I will monitor it, check out the flow. If you see a lot of solicitation by drivers, accommodations, etc. that typically show...

Cancun, Mexico After deciding that you do wish to become Nomadic and are looking into the logistics and details that I have mentioned in the last post, you have been asking yourself; “Where to go?”. With a couple of hundred countries in the world, plenty to choose from. At this point in your life, you have no doubt thought about this, perhaps at length.   You have some favorites in mind. Selling a home is more involved, and can lead to regret later i...

INTRODUCTION

Image
Welcome to my blog and this very first post! Congratulations on considering becoming a nomad, or perhaps you have already started this journey (both figuratively and literally!). During my long career in travel & tourism, writing and proofreading has been a part of my many duties. Not as fun as travelling around the world, but still, I enjoy writing!  I was thrilled to have written a tour proposal for a lengthy tour through Southeast Asia that was requested by the famed author, Michael Crichton!  My professional writing has also included input and editing for National Geographic tour programs, and so much more. I promise you that I will put as much effort into this personal blog which I have created to assist those who wish to become nomadic, as I have during my travel career!   I have just arrived in Oaxaca, here for 3 months.  My Airbnb accommodations features several terraces overlooking the city from a high vantage point.  Many comfy chairs an...
